This page sets out how we source, check and correct the numbers on this site, and what we will not do. It applies to every food page, calculator and guide published by Vancko Systems Ltd.

Sourcing

Every nutrition figure comes from one of three places: CoFID for the United Kingdom, USDA FoodData Central for the United States, or the manufacturer's published label for a named branded product. The source is stated on the page, next to the numbers, not buried in a footer.

Calculator formulas are named and linked to the paper or authority they come from, so the arithmetic can be checked rather than taken on trust.

Checking

Figures are pulled from the source databases programmatically and compared against the record cited on the page, so a typed number cannot drift away from the database it claims to quote. Portion weights are the ones in common use in the market the page is written for — a British portion and an American serving of the same food are not the same thing, and we do not treat them as such.

Where a food varies widely between brands, we say so and give the range instead of a single figure that would be wrong for most readers.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to draft and structure pages. Numbers are not generated by them: every figure is injected from the source databases above, and pages are checked against those records before publication. Where a page turns out to contain an error anyway, that is our responsibility, not the tool's.

Corrections

If a number here is wrong, tell us at support@bodypalapp.com and say which page. We check it against the source, fix it if it is wrong, and update the date at the top of the page. We do not quietly delete pages to make an error disappear.

What we do not do

Who writes this

Pages are produced and published by Vancko Systems Ltd. We are not registered dietitians, and we do not claim clinical expertise. What we offer instead is traceability: every figure names its source, every formula names its paper, and anything we are unsure of is marked as such rather than smoothed over.

Our full data methodology is at how we verify our nutrition data.
