How many calories are in a Crunch bar?
A standard Crunch bar weighs 1.55 oz (44 g) and carries 220 calories. Per 100 g the bar runs 500 calories, ordinary territory for milk chocolate. The crisped rice makes it feel light and airy in the hand, but per ounce the bar sits within two calories of plain sweet chocolate.
You'd need to walk about 44 minutes to burn the 220 calories in one 1.55 oz bar (44 g).

Crunch bar quick facts
The numbers below come from the USDA record 168762, "Candies, NESTLE, CRUNCH Bar and Dessert Topping" in SR Legacy. It is the only USDA entry for the candy bar itself: milk chocolate around crisped rice, sold as a 1.55 oz bar. Two other USDA records have "crunch bar" in the name, and both are formulated protein or cereal bars with a completely different build. Those get their own section further down, because mixing them into one average would flatter the candy and insult the protein bar.
The serving column is the standard 1.55 oz bar, 44 g, which is what most people are holding when they look this up.
| Nutrient | Per 100 g | Per 1 bar, 1.55 oz (44 g) | % Daily Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calories | 500 | 220 | — |
| Total fat | 26 g | 11.4 g | 15% |
| Saturated fat | 16 g | 7.0 g | 35% |
| Carbohydrate | 67 g | 29.5 g | 11% |
| Dietary fiber | 1.9 g | 0.8 g | 3% |
| Total sugars | 55 g | 24.2 g | — |
| Protein | 5 g | 2.2 g | 4% |
| Sodium | 150 mg | 66 mg | 3% |

Verified nutrition data
Numbers on this page come from USDA FoodData Central, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food composition database, and from manufacturer labels where a branded product is named. Last verified September 2026. How we verify our data →
There is no added sugars row here because USDA does not publish added sugars for this record. Total sugars have no Daily Value of their own, which is why that cell is blank; the FDA's Daily Value reference sets one for added sugars only. Two more rows worth naming: a bar carries 6 mg of cholesterol, 2% of the Daily Value, and 134 mg of potassium, about 3%.
US servings, from a fun size to the full bar
| Serving | Weight | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| 1 fun size bar, 0.5 oz | 14.2 g | 71 kcal |
| 1 oz | 28 g | 142 kcal |
| One bar, 1.55 oz | 44 g | 220 kcal |
| Four fun size bars | 41 g | 205 kcal |
| 2 tbsp dessert topping | 24 g | 120 kcal |
| Per 100 g | 100 g | 500 kcal |
The 44 g bar, the 14.2 g fun size, the four-bar handful and the 2 tbsp topping are all USDA household measures for this record. The 1 oz line is our own arithmetic from the USDA 100 g figure, not a USDA serving, and it is the most useful one to memorize: an ounce of this candy is 142 calories, whatever shape the ounce arrives in.
Notice what the fun size does to the math. One small bar is 71 calories, a genuinely small number. Four of them weigh 41 g and come to 205 calories, which is 93% of a full bar. The wrapper shrinks; the total does not.
Fun size, four in a handful, and the dessert topping
Every version below is the same chocolate at 500 calories per 100 g, apart from the last two, which are different products that happen to share the word "crunch."
| Version | Per 100 g | Typical piece | Calories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fun size bar | 500 kcal | 1 bar, 0.5 oz (14.2 g) | 71 kcal |
| Four fun size bars | 500 kcal | 4 bars (41 g) | 205 kcal |
| Crunch dessert topping | 500 kcal | 2 tbsp (24 g) | 120 kcal |
| ZonePerfect Classic Crunch bar | 426 kcal | 1 bar (50 g) | 213 kcal |
| Snickers Marathon Multigrain Crunch bar | 422 kcal | 1 bar (55 g) | 232 kcal |
The dessert topping is the sleeper. Two tablespoons over ice cream is 120 calories before the ice cream, roughly half a candy bar's worth of chocolate poured on top of something that already has its own number.
Store shelves also carry a stack of look-alikes with "crunch bar" on the front. In the USDA Branded database, an Atkins Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut Crunch Bar is 190 calories in a 40 g bar, a Nature's Path Organic Love Crunch Bar is 190 in 35 g, and the two Enjoy Life Ricemilk Crunch bars are 170 calories per 32 g package. A Feastables MrBeast Crunch Bar, milk chocolate, is 200 calories in 35 g. All of them are lighter per bar than the 220-calorie original, and all of them are heavier per 100 g except Atkins.
Protein crunch bars are a different food
Search results mix the candy with two USDA records that are not candy at all, and the gap only shows up when you weigh them.
A ZonePerfect Classic Crunch bar is 426 calories per 100 g, so it looks lighter than the 500 of the chocolate bar. But it is a bigger bar. A 50 g bar comes to 213 calories, which is seven calories below the candy. What you actually buy with that swap is protein: 15.0 g per bar against 2.2 g in a Crunch bar, our arithmetic from the USDA 100 g figures. Sodium moves too, to about 222 mg per bar against 66 mg.
A Snickers Marathon Multigrain Crunch bar is 422 calories per 100 g and 232 calories in a 55 g bar, the highest per-bar number on this page. It brings roughly 10.2 g of protein and 1.5 g of fiber per bar, our arithmetic from the USDA 100 g figures. So the two "healthier" crunch bars are not calorie savings. They are the same calories doing different work, and if you eat one because it sounded lighter, you saved nothing.
Saturated fat, not calories, is the row to watch
Here is the number that gets missed. One bar is 220 calories, about 11% of a 2,000-calorie day. The same bar carries 7.0 g of saturated fat, which is 35% of the Daily Value. Saturated fat runs three times ahead of calories in this bar, and it does that because milk chocolate is mostly cocoa butter and milk fat.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans put the ceiling for saturated fat at less than 10% of daily calories, which is where the 20 g Daily Value comes from. If you are tracking that line rather than just calories, a Crunch bar takes a third of the day in about ninety seconds of chewing. Four fun size bars are barely better: 6.6 g, or 33%.
Sugar behaves the same way. A bar holds 24.2 g of total sugars, from 55 g per 100 g, meaning more than half the bar's weight is sugar. USDA does not split out how much of that is added, so no percentage can be honestly attached to it here. If you want the split, MyPlate's guidance on limiting added sugars is the place to start, and the wrapper's own label carries the added-sugars line that this USDA record does not.
Protein is the row nobody should expect anything from: 2.2 g, 4% of the Daily Value. Fiber is 0.8 g, 3%. This is a dessert, and it counts like one.
How does a Crunch bar compare?
| Candy | Per 100 g | US serving | Calories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crunch bar | 500 kcal | 1 oz (28 g) | 142 kcal |
| Twix caramel cookie bars | 502 kcal | 1 oz (28 g) | 142 kcal |
| Whatchamacallit | 494 kcal | 1 oz (28 g) | 140 kcal |
| Sweet chocolate, plain | 507 kcal | 1 oz (28 g) | 144 kcal |
Our take: by the ounce these four are the same candy. The spread is 140 to 144 calories, four calories across the whole table, which is noise. Crunch feels lighter because crisped rice takes up room, and that is exactly the trap — the bar is airy, not lean. Where it does win is fat: 26 g per 100 g against 34.2 g for plain sweet chocolate, with the difference sitting in carbohydrate instead. If you are picking a candy bar for the calorie count, pick the smallest one you will actually be satisfied with, because the brand on the wrapper barely moves the number.

Crunch bar FAQs
How many calories are in a Crunch bar?
A standard 1.55 oz bar (44 g) is 220 calories, from a rate of 500 calories per 100 g. That is about 11% of a 2,000-calorie day. The chocolate carries most of it; the crisped rice adds volume and crunch without adding much weight to the bar.
How many calories in a fun size Crunch bar?
One fun size bar of 0.5 oz (14.2 g) is 71 calories. That is under a third of the full bar, and it lands close to a single square of most chocolate bars. Two of them, 142 calories, match an ounce of the same candy exactly.
How much sugar is in a Crunch bar?
A 44 g bar holds 24.2 g of total sugars, which comes from 55 g per 100 g, so more than half the bar's weight is sugar. USDA does not publish added sugars for this record, so no Daily Value percentage appears here; the wrapper's own label does carry that line.
Does a Crunch bar have protein?
Only 2.2 g per 1.55 oz bar, or 4% of the Daily Value, from 5 g per 100 g. Crunch is candy, not a protein snack. A ZonePerfect Classic Crunch bar, a formulated bar with a similar name, carries about 15.0 g in a 50 g bar instead.
How much saturated fat is in a Crunch bar?
A single bar carries 7.0 g of saturated fat, 35% of the Daily Value, while its 220 calories are only about 11% of a 2,000-calorie day. Total fat is 11.4 g, 15% of the Daily Value. Saturated fat is the row that moves fastest here.
How many calories in 4 fun size Crunch bars?
Four fun size bars weigh 41 g and come to 205 calories, within 15 calories of one full 44 g bar at 220. They also bring 6.6 g of saturated fat, 33% of the Daily Value. Splitting the candy into small pieces barely changes the total.
Crunch bar vs Twix: which has fewer calories?
Per ounce it is a tie: 142 calories each, because Crunch runs 500 calories per 100 g and Twix 502. The gap shows up elsewhere. Crunch has more fat, 26 g per 100 g against 24.85 g, and more carbohydrate, 67 g against 64.8 g.
How many Crunch bar calories per ounce?
One ounce (28 g) is 142 calories, our own arithmetic from the USDA 100 g figure of 500 rather than a USDA serving. That ounce also carries 4.5 g of saturated fat and 7.4 g of fat overall. Two fun size bars land in the same place.
