How many calories are in lemonade?
A 1-cup (248 g) glass of lemonade is 114 calories, and per 100 g the drink runs 46 calories. That is plain ready-to-drink lemonade, poured without ice. Fill a 16 fl oz cup instead and the same drink is 228. Powdered mix, poured to the same line, is 37.
You'd need to walk about 23 minutes to burn the 114 calories in a 1-cup (248 g) serving.

Lemonade quick facts
The row on this page is FNDDS 2710570, "Lemonade, fruit juice drink" — the ready-to-drink kind that comes out of a bottle, a carton or a pitcher already mixed. That is the lemonade almost everyone is holding when they go looking for the number.
USDA also carries frozen-concentrate and powder records, but those describe a preparation step rather than a product. They sit further down the page, each with its own figure, because mixing your own changes the answer by a lot.

Verified nutrition data
Numbers on this page come from USDA FoodData Central, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food composition database, and from manufacturer labels where a branded product is named. Last verified September 2026. How we verify our data →
There is no added-sugars row here and no trans-fat row: USDA does not publish either value for this record, so neither belongs in the table. Cholesterol is 0 mg. Potassium comes to 25 mg in a cup, about 1% of the 4,700 mg Daily Value — lemonade is not the citrus health drink its color suggests.
US servings, from one ounce to a 16 oz cup
| Serving | Weight | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| 1 fl oz | 31 g | 14 kcal |
| 1 oz | 28 g | 13 kcal |
| 1 cup, 8 fl oz, over ice | 184 g | 85 kcal |
| 1 cup, 8 fl oz, no ice | 248 g | 114 kcal |
| 12 fl oz glass | 372 g | 171 kcal |
| 16 fl oz cup | 496 g | 228 kcal |
| Per 100 g | 100 g | 46 kcal |
The 1-cup pours and the 1 fl oz line are USDA household measures. The 12 fl oz and 16 fl oz rows, and the 1 oz row, are our own arithmetic from the USDA 100 g figure, not USDA serving sizes.
Two things fall out of that table. The first is that a 16 fl oz cup — the standard fast-food medium, and the size most home glasses land near when you fill them properly — is exactly double the 8 fl oz pour: 228 against 114. Nothing about the drink changed. Only the glass did.
The second is ice. USDA lists an 8 fl oz glass at 248 g poured neat and 184 g poured over ice, because the cubes take up roughly a quarter of the space. That is 85 calories instead of 114, for a glass that looks identical on the counter. Ice does not cut calories; it just means you poured less lemonade.
Concentrate, powder, pink and light
| Version | Per 100 g | Typical serving | Calories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ready to drink | 46 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 114 kcal |
| From frozen concentrate | 40 kcal | 1 cup, 247 g | 99 kcal |
| Pink, from frozen concentrate | 43 kcal | 1 cup, 247 g | 106 kcal |
| Light lemonade | 21 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 52 kcal |
| Powdered mix, prepared | 14 kcal | 1 cup, 264 g | 37 kcal |
| Frozen concentrate, undiluted | 196 kcal | 1 fl oz, 36.5 g | 72 kcal |
| Iced tea and lemonade | 34 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 84 kcal |
Concentrate mixed to instruction lands at 99 a cup, a little under the bottled drink, because the water-to-syrup ratio on the can is fixed and generous. Pink is 106 — the color version of the same concentrate, seven calories a glass above white, which is inside the noise of how hard you squeeze the last of the syrup out of the can.
Powder is the outlier. Prepared lemonade from powder is 14 calories per 100 g, the lightest of the eight USDA lemonade records, and 37 in a cup. That is less than a third of the ready-to-drink number, and it is the single biggest lever on this page — bigger than ice, bigger than glass size, bigger than switching to light.
The undiluted concentrate row, at 196 calories per 100 g, is there as a warning rather than a serving. Nobody drinks it neat, but a heavy hand at the pitcher is how a "homemade" batch quietly outruns the bottle. There is also a fruit-flavored lemonade record with no lemon juice in it at 25 calories per 100 g, which works out to about 62 in a cup by our own arithmetic from the 100 g figure.
Bottled brands sit across that whole range. Simply Light Lemonade is listed at 10 calories per 100 g — 24 for a 240 ml pour — while Fentimans Traditional Rose Lemonade is 52 per 100 g and Ocean Spray Cran Lemonade 47. The bottle in your hand is the number that counts; the USDA row is the honest average when you have no label.
Where the 114 calories actually sit
Every calorie in a cup of lemonade is carbohydrate. Fat is 0 g, protein is 0 g, fiber is 0 g, and the carbohydrate row of 30.0 g is 28.9 g total sugars. There is nothing else in the glass to talk about.
Total sugars carry no Daily Value on the Nutrition Facts label, so the 28.9 g has no percentage next to it — the FDA's Daily Value reference assigns one to added sugars only, and USDA does not split this record into added and naturally occurring. If you want that breakdown, it has to come off the bottle. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans set the added-sugars advice at under 10% of daily calories, and a sweetened drink is the usual place people meet it.
Sodium is a non-issue: 15 mg a cup, a rounding error against the 2,300 mg Daily Value, or less than a hundredth of a teaspoon of table salt. If you are watching sodium, lemonade is free. If you are watching sugar, it is not.
The practical read: lemonade behaves like a soft drink that came from a fruit. Treating it as a beverage you drink freely all afternoon is how a 16 fl oz refill twice over becomes 456 calories you never chewed.
How does lemonade compare?
| Drink | Per 100 g | US serving | Calories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lemonade, ready to drink | 46 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 114 kcal |
| Iced tea and lemonade | 34 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 84 kcal |
| Cran-lemonade juice drink | 45 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 112 kcal |
| Vodka and lemonade | 93 kcal | 1 cup, 248 g | 231 kcal |
Our take: for weight loss, the half-and-half iced tea blend is the easy win at 84 a cup — 30 calories under straight lemonade, same volume, and the tea does the diluting for you. Light lemonade at 52 is better still if the sweetener does not bother you. Cran-lemonade is a wash with plain lemonade, two calories apart, so pick it on taste alone. And the vodka version at 231 a cup is the one worth logging honestly: it is twice the drink, and none of the extra comes from lemons.

Lemonade FAQs
How many calories are in a glass of lemonade?
A standard 1-cup glass, 8 fl oz and 248 g without ice, is 114 calories. Pour it over ice and the liquid drops to about 184 g, or 85 calories, because the cubes take up the space. A 12 fl oz glass of the same drink is 171.
How many calories are in 16 oz of lemonade?
A 16 fl oz cup holds 496 g of lemonade and comes to 228 calories, exactly double the 8 fl oz pour. That figure is our own arithmetic from the USDA 100 g value of 46 calories, not a USDA serving size. Ice lowers it; a refill does not.
Is lemonade high in sugar?
A cup carries 28.9 g of total sugars, and that is where nearly all of its 114 calories sit. Carbohydrate is 30.0 g, with no fat, protein or fiber at all. Total sugars carry no Daily Value on the label, so the number stands on its own.
How many calories in homemade lemonade?
USDA publishes no record for homemade lemonade, so the closest stand-in is the ready-to-drink fruit juice drink at 46 calories per 100 g, or 114 a cup. Your own pitcher lands wherever your sugar does. Frozen concentrate mixed to instruction is 40 per 100 g, or 99 a cup.
How many calories in pink lemonade?
Pink lemonade from frozen concentrate is 43 calories per 100 g, or 106 in a 1-cup (247 g) serving. The white version of the same concentrate is 40 per 100 g and 99 a cup, so the color costs about seven calories a glass. Bottled pink runs closer to 114.
Does light lemonade have fewer calories?
Light lemonade is 21 calories per 100 g and 52 in a 1-cup (248 g) serving, against 114 for the full-sugar drink. That is 62 calories saved per glass, because part of the sugar is replaced with a sweetener. Sugars drop from 11.67 g per 100 g to 5 g.
How many calories in powdered lemonade mix?
Powdered lemonade mixed with water is 14 calories per 100 g, or 37 in a 1-cup (264 g) serving. That is the lightest of the eight USDA lemonade records and less than a third of the 114 calories in a cup of ready-to-drink lemonade. Mix it stronger and it climbs.
Does ice lower the calories in a glass of lemonade?
Ice does not remove any of the 114 calories, it removes lemonade. USDA lists an 8 fl oz glass at 248 g without ice and 184 g with it, which is 114 calories against 85. Same glass, 29 fewer calories, because the cubes took up roughly a quarter of the space.
